Cincinnati Bell and Infintech Team Up to Deliver New Mobile Credit Card Processing Service for Businesses
MobileCharge allows business customers to process secure credit card transactions through their BlackBerry device
CINCINNATI - May 2, 2008 - Credit card transactions are common practice at department stores and restaurants, but for the mobile workforce-such as field, service, and delivery businesses-processing credit cards on the road can mean higher processing fees, costly equipment, and administrative headaches.
Cincinnati Bell Inc. (NYSE: CBB), in conjunction with Infintech LLC, is introducing MobileCharge, a new application that enables mobile professionals to electronically authorize payments in real time using their BlackBerry® Smartphone. MobileCharge leverages Cincinnati Bell's superior quality wireless network and Infintech's secure credit card processing technology, allowing credit card transactions to be processed anywhere there is a wireless signal.
"Companies have used BlackBerry devices to connect with their customers and employees for years, but with new applications such as MobileCharge, it's easy to see that the BlackBerry isn't just for e-mail anymore," says Dennis Hinkel, vice president of business markets at Cincinnati Bell. "We plan to roll out additional applications that harness the power of BlackBerry and the accessibility of Cincinnati Bell to provide practical and cost-saving solutions to our business customers."
The ability to electronically swipe credit cards at the point of service reduces processing costs by 45 percent or more compared to manually processing the transaction. It also increases cash flow and reduces administrative paperwork, allowing businesses to receive payments as services are rendered. Moreover, MobileCharge can be used for inventory control as it interfaces directly with a company's accounts receivable software.
Mobile Solutions for Mobile Companies
MobileCharge is more cost effective compared to other expensive portable credit card terminals that require a separate cellular plan. In addition to processing credit cards, BlackBerry Smartphones with MobileCharge can be used to place calls, send e-mail, and much more. Since MobileCharge can be used anywhere there is a wireless signal, businesses can process payments at trade shows or other industry events where temporary phone lines can be cost prohibitive.
"Typically small businesses with a mobile workforce rely on multiple touchpoints to facilitate credit card payments at the point of service. After completing and sending an invoice to the customer, they then have to wait for the customer to send payment," says Ryan Rybolt, president of Infintech. "This can take weeks or even months. With MobileCharge, businesses can process secure payments on the spot, knowing that funds will be in their bank account within 48 hours."
Cincinnati Bell also offers MobileChargePro, which allows businesses the same secure, real-time processing ability of MobileCharge but with the added convenience of an integrated card swipe and thermal printer cradle. With MobileChargePro, businesses can swipe credit cards and print receipts, whereas with MobileCharge, credit cards are entered manually on a BlackBerry's keypad and receipts are e-mailed directly to customers as PDF files.
