2008 Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks to Include Dedication to Troops and Anniversary Celebration
Cincinnati Bell Marks 10 Years of Wireless and ZoomTown with Special Promotions
CINCINNATI - August 26, 2008 - Cincinnati Bell (NYSE: CBB) ushered in a new era in 2007 when it became the title sponsor of the Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks event. This year, the company will again dedicate the event to the men and women of the U.S. armed forces and make it possible for the Pentagon Network to air television coverage around the world. Additionally, Cincinnati Bell is marking the 10th anniversary of Cincinnati Bell Wireless and ZoomTown high-speed Internet service with an all-day celebration on Sunday, Aug. 31.
"Cincinnati Bell is excited to bring this end-of-summer celebration to the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky community," said Jack Cassidy, president and chief executive officer of Cincinnati Bell. "We believe the Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks are the finest show in the nation, but we want to do more than just lend our name to this great event. Dedicating the 2008 Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks to the troops is another way to express respect and support for those men and women and their families who make a daily sacrifice to serve our country in faraway and dangerous places."
In addition to the fireworks dedication, Cincinnati is one of the leading sponsors of the USO Riverfest Gala, which is held during the Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks. This event has raised more than $1 million in its four years of existence and is the country's largest annual fundraiser for the USO of Metropolitan Washington and its hospital services at Walter Reed Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital. The USO Riverfest Gala, held at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse, is a patriotic evening that pays tribute to all military personnel and individual honorees who have been recently injured in the line of duty.
