Simply dial *69 and Call Return lets you know the name and number of the person you missed,
without any special equipment. It will even dial the number for you if you want to return the call.
Terms and Conditions
The customer must dial a special access code to activate the service. There is no time limit for returning
a missed call as long as the customer has not received any additional calls or call waiting tones prior to
activating Call Return.
If the number the customer is trying to Call Return is busy, a recorded message will advise the customer
to hang up. Call Return alerts the customer with a special ring when the called line is free and then
connects the customer to the party they are trying to reach. If the called number is busy, attempts
are made to return the call for 30 minutes after the service is activated.
The special ringing pattern (two short and one long) will repeat if not answered and could affect
the operation of answering machines, FAX machines, or modems depending on their models and settings.
These devices may interpret the special short-short-long ringing pattern as three separate rings.
This may result in your machine answering a call prior to the selected ring cycle. Customers should
refer to their equipment owner's manual to adjust answering cycle if necessary.
If the customer is using their telephone or cannot pick up their telephone when they hear the special
ring during the 30 minute activation period, the Call Return feature will try the call again in 5
minute intervals. If the customer has not answered the telephone call by the third try, the request
will be cancelled. Customers' telephone lines are not tied up during the 30 minute attempt. Both the
calling and called parties may originate and receive calls during the Call Return activation. A customer
may have multiple Call Return activations in effect concurrently. This service is most often used
to return missed calls. Calls that can be returned must be within the same central office or a
compatible Custom Calling Plus central office.
A Call Return customer is responsible for any applicable local or toll usage charges. If the
customer subscribes to Call Return and Call Waiting, the Call Return feature may be used to
return unanswered calls that the customer received while on another call. Call Return will not
work with 700, 800, or 900 prefixed numbers.
If the customer is on a call and the Call Waiting feature beeps while the Call Return feature
is activated, the Call Return feature will return the Call Waiting tone but not the original
call. If the customer activates their Call Return feature and that customer is on another person's
Call Block list, the call will be rejected.
When using the Call Return feature, and the telephone number to which the customer is returning
the call has the customer's telephone number on their Priority Forward list, the customer will
receive an announcement rejecting the call. The customer may hang up and redial the call using
normal procedures and the call will be Priority Forwarded.
If the customer is on a call and they are waiting for a special ring-back from the activated
Call Return feature, the customer will not receive the special ring-back because the access
line is not free. Even if the customer also subscribes to the Call Waiting feature, the customer
will not receive the special ring-back because the access line is not free. Voice Messaging will
answer calls that are forwarded to it.
The Call Return feature will register when the call forwards from the customer's access line in
a Call Forwarding Don't Answer condition. The customer will then to able to retrieve the message.
The Call Return feature will not register when the call forwards from the customer' s access line
in a Call Forwarding Busy condition. If the customer is on a call while the Call Return feature is
activated, and the Call Waiting feature beeps but the calling party hangs up before the call
forwards to Voice Messaging (Blind Screening), the customer will be able to dial *69 and hear
the telephone number, time, and date of the call waiting call. The call waiting call will
override the original call. Anonymous Call Rejection is required with Call Return.
