Data and Internet: Business Hosting and Email

Account Manager

The Account Manager is a Web-based interface that allows customers to maintain and update their business's Email. Account Manager is included with all Business Hosting and Business Email accounts. Some Account Manager functions include: initiating message forwarding, setting up autoresponders, managing Email users, and managing distribution lists.

Alias

Aliases allow customers to have more than one address per mailbox. For example, Bob has his own Email account, but also wants to receive messages from potential customers who submit Email to 'product.info@bobscompany.com'. Instead of checking two Email accounts, an alias can be established that directs messages sent to product.info@bobscompany.com to Bob's regular Email account.

ZoomTown automatically sets up several aliases to help manage your Business Email account. The webmaster@yourdomain.com, support@yourdomain.com and abuse@yourdomain.com aliases will all point to the postmaster@yourdomain.com Email account. Since the postmaster account is the primary administration and maintenance account for Business Email, it is also designated as the "wild card" alias. This means that Email sent to unidentified users @yourdomain.com will be delivered to the postmaster.

Autoresponder

Autoresponders allow customers to set up a message that automatically responds to anyone who sends Email to the customer. For example, if Bob goes on vacation, he may set up an autoresponder that says "I'm on vacation this week. I'll respond to your message when I return." Anyone sending Email to Bob will automatically receive this message.

Dial-Up Account

A dial-up account gives customers access to the Internet. Customers will need a dial-up account to access and update their Web site. If customers currently have dial-up Internet access through an ISP provider, they can use that account to access the Business Hosting server. For customers that need to establish a dial-up account, a Fuse account can be opened when ordering Business Hosting. Customers interested in high-speed Internet access can also order ZoomTown.

Note: ZoomTown may not be available in all areas. Please check the ZoomTown Availability page for more information.

Domain Name Registration

When you register a domain name, you are inserting an entry into a directory of all the domain names and their corresponding computers on the Internet. This directory is maintained by InterNIC. You are also guaranteeing that your domain name is unique and will not be used by anyone else. There are numerous companies (registrars) that register domain names; however, ZoomTown will register a customer's domain name (i.e., mydomain.com) using Network Solutions. Registration fees charged by Network Solutions will be billed directly to the customer.

A secure server certificate, or secure server ID, verifies the identity of an entity that is using encryption. The secure server certificate is issued by a trusted third party called a Certification Authority (CA). Two common certification authorities are VeriSign and Entrust. A secure server certificate is required to utilize SSL, which is offered in Standard and Premium Business Hosting. A company can either buy an individual certificate, or can purchase Cincinnati Bell's shared certificate. ZoomTown can facilitate the acquisition of an individual certificate if the customer does not already have one.
